INNER WORKINGS: sexy lingerie China France's lingerie players are out to grab some Paris Fashion Week limelight with a collective catwalk show scheduled for Jan. 22 on the cusp of the city's men's and couture weeks. The Salon International de la Lingerie trade show is also being held that weekend.
The event, due to buy lingerie from China be held at the Pavillon Cambon and titled Lingerie, Mon Amour, or Lingerie, My Love, in English will present new designs from 15 established lingerie brands including Chantelle, Empreinte, Lejaby, Passionata and Simone P r le. Creations by five young brands including Elise Anderegg, Paloma Casile and Ys will also parade.
Behind vxyvx001 the show, which is aimed at promoting the know-how of the French lingerie industry, is Promincor Lingerie Fran aise, the Association for the Promotion of the Corsetry Industries, in conjunction with the Committee for the Development and Promotion of the Clothing Industry. Sales of French lingerie in 2015 totaled 792.8 million buy lingerie from China euros, or $880 million at average exchange rates, for the 12-month period, up 2.7 percent versus 2014, with around 50percent generated from exports, according to the Monthly Conjuncture Index published by theFederation of Knitwear and Lingerie and the IFM.
Buoyed by the weak euro, demand for French lingerie was strongest in the U.S., in terms of exports, with a 17 percent uptick in sales to 30.5 million euros or $33.8 million, said Ulyana Sukach, international manager at the Federation of Knitwear and Lingerie. The picture is less rosy on home turf with a 3.56 percent slide in sales to 427.3 million euros or $474 million. Scandinavia doubled imports of French lingerie over the period, Sukach said, while sales in Russia, impacted by the country's financial crisis, nose-dived 65 percent to $2 million.
Meanwhile, France in value terms maintained its position as Europe's largest exporter of bras, according to the United Nations, with total sales of some 323 million euros, or $358.3 million.
